Treatment with the help of cats

Cat therapy is a form of pet therapy, a system of treating a patient in which, alongside the medicines, they are prescribed the company of a cat. The remarkable ability of cats to cure many illnesses was noticed as long ago as antiquity.

Anyone with a cat in the house knows that this animal is capable of a great deal. A cat not only treats various illnesses but warns its owner of danger or misfortune, saves them from loneliness and depression, charges them with positive energy, calms them and is, of course, the best of friends — one that understands everything and never abandons you in trouble.

The cat is held to be the finest of diagnosticians. With neuralgia or arthritis, for instance, it finds the sore place on a person unerringly and tries to press against it or lie on it to warm it. Having found the painful spot, the animal usually begins to purr hard and then, putting out its claws, gives a massage of a kind, working with its paws. Incidentally, the marks left by those pricks of the claws never become inflamed and always heal very quickly.

A cat can save its owner from a heart attack, from a hypertensive crisis and from their consequences. During the treatment the animal may forget about food and sleep for several hours and even days, staying beside the patient and trying with its purring, its massage and its warmth to ease their state.

A cat can even warn its owner of an attack of illness to come. It has been noticed that a cat mostly comes to a person and begins to soothe them when they are irritated or under great strain. In such a case one should not refuse the help of a beloved pet. The best thing is to sit down and calm oneself. It may be that the cat is trying in this way to warn its owner of a fault in their energy system before they feel it themselves.

It has long been established that among the chief factors bringing on cardiovascular disease are irritability, uncontrolled attacks of fear and other disturbances of the mind, which cats sense perfectly well and try to set right, restoring their owner’s biofield.

According to research, the biofield of a cat has a good effect on the human nervous system, brings blood pressure to normal, steadies the work of the heart, relieves joint pain and headaches, speeds the healing of injuries and treats internal inflammatory disease. As a rule the cat’s healing effect works when the person strokes and caresses their pet and talks to it.

According to research, in a person who has recently had a heart attack the blood pressure and the pulse return to normal while they stroke their beloved cat. The point is that the palms of the hands carry the projection of the points of every vital organ, and stroking is a light massage of a kind. Through the palms the cat’s energy prompts the person’s organs to work in the right rhythm.

The projection of all the internal organs is present on the soles of the feet as well. That is exactly why cats so love sleeping at their owner’s feet. For a headache it is recommended to put the cat around the neck like a collar.

The warmth of its body has a warming and relaxing effect on the patient’s body, while its fur, which carries an electric charge, stimulates the active points on the shoulders, and that helps to rid one of pain.

Recent research has shown experimentally that cat owners live on average four or five years longer than people with no pets in the house. A cat’s purring relaxes a person and calms their nervous system.

Many people who take an interest in cat therapy ask: can any cat become the household doctor, or must it be some special animal? Scientists maintain that any animal that loves its owner has a healing effect. The cat should, however, be adult, healthy and unfailingly well-disposed towards people. There are, of course, particularly gifted animals with stronger healing powers than others. As a rule these are black cats, which according to research have a very powerful energy. But it is impossible to predict such talents in advance. And although cats do show a certain “division of specialisation” depending on colour, breed, coat length and sex, when a person brings a kitten into the house they cannot know beforehand how talented their pet will prove to be at healing.
